Meet our family.

John Owley
FOUNDER, PRESIDENT & CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER
John is the boss. He's the visionary behind what we do, and we're always running to catch up with him. He's a stickler for quality craftsmanship and doesn't permit anything less than perfect. He is generous, chatty and loves sharing his knowledge with others.
In his down time, John loves to hang out with his two granddaughters. They play games together, like Minecraft or online puzzle games, and the girls even help out in the office by stapling papers and applying stamps to envelopes. He is lovingly known as “Paps” or “Grandpapi”.
-
Logan Owley
CHIEF OPERATIONS OFFICER
Logan is John's son who manages the crew at job sites and enforces the company's meticulous operating procedures. Logan's warm heart enables him to be a great listener to employees and clients. He is very laid back and puts everyone at ease.
Logan's two daughters, Tristin and Eliana, keep him busy when he's not working. They all share a love of playing Pokémon GO and acting like goofballs. It's a lot of fun bonding time with Papa.
-
Devon Owley
CHIEF INFORMATION OFFICER
Devon is John's son who provides IT support for the company, despite often wearing a t-shirt that says "No, I will not fix your computer." Devon works full-time for another company, so we don't see him around much, but he's always there to help CSR when needed.
In his free time, Devon loves taking pictures and watching aerial shows. He even takes his nieces with him to the shows - one of whom is now obsessed with airplanes. (Thank you, Uncle!)

Mindy Owley
CO-FOUNDER, CHIEF COMMUNICATIONS OFFICER
Mindy is John’s wife of over 40 years. She is the warm and friendly voice on the end of the line when you call our company. She takes down information, helps with scheduling and performing other necessary business tasks to keep things running smoothly for the front-end of the business.
Mindy spends a couple days a week taking great care of her granddaughters, and helping out friends. She is a true friend who is there when you need her. We are proud to have her in our family.
-
Michelle Owley
CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER
Michelle is Logan’s wife and manages the back-office tasks, like payroll and accounting. She had over 16 years experience in a Fortune 50 company, so she’s putting her skills to use to help the family business.
Working for this company allows Michelle to be a stay-at-home mom and homeschool her oldest daughter. Michelle loves to quilt when she has the time, and regularly has her favorite upbeat music playing in the background. She says it helps her be more productive.
-
Toni Owley
VICE PRESIDENT OF FINANCE
Toni is Devon's wife and our in-house financial expert. She works full-time for another company, so she helps CSR when needed to ensure everyone gets paid and the books are reconciled.
Toni loves hiking and camping in her free time. She is always looking for new places to explore and is constantly planning "the next big trip".
-
The beginning.
John Owley is the founder of Common Sense Roofing Inc (aka CSR). He began his roofing career in 1978. While living in Eureka, California, John had a company called Common Sense Carpet Cleaning where he offered carpet cleaning, water damage restoration and roofing services. When John and Mindy moved to East Wenatchee, Washington in 2006, John converted the business to solely roofing under the name Common Sense Roofing. John has installed many different forms of industrial, commercial and residential roofing, including torch down, TPO, composition, shingles, shakes and tile… and the list goes on.
-
Father & Son.
In 2012, John’s oldest son, Logan, began working with John as an Installer. John was proud to have his son working side-by-side with him, and beemed with joy as he introduced Logan to clients. Shortly before the birth of Logan’s oldest daughter, he took a leave of absence to pursue being a stay-at-home dad. Even at a young age, Tristin showed much love for her “Grandpapi” and may some day join the ranks of the roof installers.
-
Growing.
With so much home building going on in the Wenatchee area, John has been working with Sage Homes to collaborate on installing shingles on newly built homes. This partnership has enabled John’s workforce to grow and provide services year-round to Sage and residential clients.
-
Family business.
In December 2020, Logan began working for John again to manage the crew and share administrative tasks.
In July 2021, the company was incorporated, and all Owley kids became officers along with John and Mindy. Logan’s wife, Michelle, works part-time doing back-office tasks, such as payroll, accounting and human resources.
We have made charitable contributions to these organizations.

We love those cute little turtles. The oldest granddaughter, Tristin, received her first stuffed turtle toy on a wonderful trip to Maui with Mom, Dad, Aunt and Uncle when she was just 9 months old. In the Hawaiian language, turtle is called “honu” (ho-new), and that’s what she called him.
Little Eliana received her first stuffed turtle toy at a similar age. She calls him “Ziggy” and is a frequent sleeping buddy.
